Package Design Assignment: Soapbox, Energy Drink or Bottled Water
Due Friday, January 7, 2011
Assignment Instructions: 
1. Carefully read over the Evaluation Criteria, these Job Steps, and Requirements for this project. 
2. Look at the display brands of your product in at least two different large grocery stores. Look at the colors, designs, type styles, art, themes and slogans/taglines. How did they attract your attention?
3. FIRST:  make at least 3 thumbnail sketches for your package design [all sides], choose a name, a
slogan, and at least three colors that complement each other.
4. SECOND:  using the furnished pattern, create a rough layout for your product label, showing information on all sides, so that all information is logical and readable.  Make sure you have included product ingredients, product weight, Product Name/Logo, and slogan, along with any graphics that help convey your idea.
5. Using the mac, set up your final package design artwork, using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop or
InDesign. 
6. Once you are happy with your design, print out (1) one color proof, and (1) B/W proof.
7. Using scissors, cut out your product labels or soapbox. For drink labels, wrap and glue label around bottle or can.  For a soapbox, cut out flaps and glue box together. 
EACH LABEL/PACKAGE DESIGN MUST INCLUDE:

_____4.  The UPC Symbol -- you may create your own or copy one from a Google search. 
_____5.  Ingredients list --you may use ingredients list from a real product, or invent your own. It’s okay  to be creative with this, but make sure your wording is appropriate for all audiences!
